So it's been a week since my last post, and life has simply gone on much as it has for months. We close in on the end of another school year and starting next year, I'll have two in a numerical grade. The Queen and I continue to do great in our relationship although the sit-coms would have you believe that we're growing stagnant or some such nonsense.
Where Rock Girl is a lot like me, it seems that Sassy Pants is a lot like the Queen. They have very similar attitudes, and as she grows older, Sassy Pants' demeanor and everything is starting to resemble the Queen's as well. It's actually really funny because it's like watching a little version of her wander around and interact with the world.
My birthday is coming up in a few weeks, but this year, we had to do things a little bit differently. Last couple of years, we combined my and Rock Girl's parties so everyone only had to make one trip. This year, I wanted to do something unique, primarily for myself, but invite anyone who wants to join in. I'm going to watch all six Star Wars movies along with the Clone Wars TV series (it's only 2 hours long, but considered canon) in one day. I will start at 7:00 in the morning, and Return of the Jedi won't end until 11:45 that evening. We'll have the cake and ice cream in the afternoon, but provide some measure of breakfast lunch and dinner to whoever happens to come. I know full well that the majority won't be there all day, but it's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and so I will enjoy it regardless of who is there or not.
But since I needed a full day to myself, that meant Rock Girl would need the next weekend. Big problem, though. Father's day fell on the day we would have had her party, so we moved it to the week before. Well, that's the weekend I would have had mine so I got moved to the week before as well. So my June birthday will be held on the last weekend of May. I'm excited about what we got for Rock Girl, but I just can't say on here, just in case.
For me, I picked what I wanted as soon as I found out the release date for Rock Band. That's right. I want that game. I've asked everyone for Wal-Mart gift cards in the hopes that I might get together the $170 it'll cost for the basic set that has the game, drums, mic, and guitar. Rock Band is notoriously incompatible with Guitar Hero, so we'd need another guitar at some point, but one step at a time. The game has to come out first, and I need the money to buy it. I am kinda looking forward to the next Guitar Hero game, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, but Rock Band is a much bigger desire for me right now.
We recently got ourselves a treadmill, which is very cool. It's our purchase with the "economic stimulus package" (a phrase which makes the Queen and a friend of hers giggle). I've been walking and running on that thing, and at the moment, my legs hurt. I'm looking forward to the good it will do me in keeping in shape. I know that's a key to living just that much longer and enjoying the kids growing up while having the energy to keep up with them. Not only that, but I've been taking the fitness age deal on Wii Sports and lately, been getting 24-26 as my Wii Fitness age. Kinda neat.
To round out this entry, I have a little story. I've written before about my favorite gag to pull on unsuspecting cell phone customers (read me the number under the battery...click.). Well, there's a new twist on this one that my friend, Optimus, did not once, but twice. The first time wasn't fully his fault, though it didn't occur to him what would happen when this was done.
He recently moved and got his cable hooked up and through the cable company, got the full package deal of cable, internet, and phone service. He was having internet trouble, so he called in for help, and they said they could reset his modem. Well, if this would get everything going, he was cool with this. He watched the modem and sure enough, it reset. He started to tell the guy on the line this, but the guy was gone. Turns out that cable phones do, indeed, use the cable modem to even function. One would have thought the tech would know this.
But that's not the end of the story. He was talking to them on another occasion still working the bugs out of the system. This partcular girl told him to unplug the cable line from the wall and plug it back in to see if that would restore the signal to their system. So, while on the phone, he went over and unplugged the cable. I wonder who was laughing harder after that one...
